ERA:: (noun) a period marked by distinctive character or reckoned from a fixed point or event.
THE 20/20 ERA was by far one of the most magical and impactful eras of my life thus far. The tour marked not only a huge dream brought to fruition but also an imprint on the 8 years that I had so diligently trekked along this journey through the dance industry in hopes of landing a gig of such magnitude but also of such genuine roots. From the crew, band, vocals and management to wardrobe, security and ticket sales… I felt like all of it was truly meant for me. These people were the bits and pieces making up this story that I will one day tell my grandkids as one of the biggest fairytales I lived on this earth.
They say all great stories must come to an end. (I mean not the end end with fingers crossed of some more adventures with this TNKID family soon enough… but you know what i mean)
I came back to LA at the beginning of this year and had a few moments of sheer shock. Unsure of how to handle all the emotions I was feeling, I threw myself into my work. Started teaching again right away and just filling up my weeks with anything I could get my hands on. I was sad that era had ended. For years I had cultivated this dream… this “baby” of mine per say and now it had left my world in a matter of days. Now I know this may sound a bit dramatic. But the truth is there were soo many changes happening that i can’t really blame myself for feeling so emotional. It all just happened so fast.
Now 9 months later I’m finally feeling settled. Not only in myself but in my new apartment and also in all the new fields of work that have come my way.
I was honored to work with Rich and Tone Talauega as part of the skeleton crew for two different dance scenes that will appear in the “Alvin and the Chipmunks :: The Road Chip” movie releasing December 23, 2015.
Then I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mandy Moore, Jillian Myers and Michael Riccio for a scene in an upcoming film called La La Land featuring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling set to release summer of 2016.
And most recently spent a couple days with a strong blend of straight laughs and hard work with Ms. Ariana Grande and her amazing team Brian and Scott Nicholson with assistance from Jose “Boy Boi” Tena in rehearsals and on set of the music video for her latest single called “Focus” that will release on October 30!!
GUERRA:: “war” in Spanish
You can say I have battled a war leading up to that tour and now starting to battle another after. Working through not only the war of the industry and it’s ups and downs but also the war inside my head about new direction and realigning my path in the best way that I know how. I am so very thankful for my friends and family who continue to support me day in and day out… and YOU GUYS! Any one who supports the journey of a dreamer whether they know them personally or not is someone I am thankful for. I hope that all of you have a dream somewhere… small or big that you are looking to bring to fruition. It is the only way to live fully… believing in yourself and truly believing in others as well will bring you true happiness and inner peace.
Thanks for stopping by the site!! I hope you like the new look. I am going to do my best to keep the blog as up to date as possible.
CHEERS TO YOUR ERAS AND GUERRAS… may they all make you smile in some way.
